Not too fond of this location. I have gone a few times and received old rice, old lettuce, old rolls etc. Chicken is good. Didn't care for the balsamic tomatoes. Make sure that you do not order food here when it is not typically a meal time because you will get the food that is leftover from earlier rushes. Otherwise if you are looking for decent quality, decently healthy, slightly fast food try this place.

At every Pollo Tropical I have been to, the service could always improve. When I came here for lunch the place was packed and the line was long but it moved very quickly. I ordered a quarter chicken with rice and beans and salad. I have had several items on there menu including their tropichops, chipotle chicken sandwich (love the chipotle mayo) their Southwest chicken salad, chicken crawler wrapped (usually smothered in crazier dressing), and Caribbean soup (usually too much oil). I have started ordering the grilled whole chicken meals instead of the grilled chicken breast meals because they grill the whole chicken very well and it comes out very tasty. Obviously have to have rice and beans with my meal but I never really enjoy the beans they always lack flavor and the texture is just too hard. Overall, it's an OK place for a quick semi healthy lunch on a budget.

I had chicken, rice & beans and corn tonight. The Chicken was dry, the rice and beans needed salt, and the corn needed butter...naturally! I asked for butter at the drive up window and was told they had none. I guess I should have gone back to the original location I went to the last time I was here!

Worst pollo trop location in FTL! Consistently bad service, meager portions, they always forget your sauces, and a rude staff! Don't bother going to the drive-through, because they will mess up your order every single time and you have to go inside and get it fixed, much to their inconvenience. Go to the Oakland Park location instead! Much better To be clear, I like Pollo tropical, but this location is the worst I have ever been to. They have failed so badly again and again that it prompted me to write this review. Do better management team!

Wasn't too bad. A better healthy option then most other places for fast food. Very excellent toppings bar, with a lot of different flavored sauces. The Caribbean ribs were the best thing there. The yuca Came with a great garlic sauce.

Here's my Pollo Tropical Dance! (insert chicken song--jk) Ok, Pollo Tropical is awesome because it's the fast-food version of home cooking for many Hispanic/Latino peeps. I happened to stumble across this Pollo Tropical while I was in Florida, not knowing that Pollo Tropical actually existed OUTSIDE OF PUERTO RICO!! *HAAAAAAAAH* Super happy! I love ordering their rice and beans and chicken for a family of 4 (that me and my sister split, LOL) and then getting a side of yuca and tostones. MMMM--MMMMNNHH! :) Yummy, delicious, fast, and the people who took my order were nice. My place to go when other spots are closed.

I used come here A LOT. I'm too lazy to cook and I come home late from work, so I don't have that much time to cook. I would come here just about every other day to order 1-2 Tropichops (I would bring the second one to work with me for lunch). My friends think I'm crazy for getting pollo tropical so much. The place is near me, and I enjoy eating decent Tropichops with brown rice, so I didn't mind. I never got sick of it. One of my gripes about this location, however, is that the service is SO FREAKING SLOW!!! You would think it's because they have many customers to take care of, but IT'S NOT!!! You wait so long for the person to take your order and you would think they're still serving that person at the window, but by the time you drive around, NO ONE IS THERE!!! WTF?!?!?! Like 4 out of every 5 times I come, it takes forever for them to take my order. One more thing. If you're a person who eats brown rice, DO NOT ORDER AFTER 9! I guess since people don't really eat brown rice, it gets hard by the end of the day, but these DBAGS don't care and will serve it to you anyways. I had two of my Tropichops with hardened brown rice. I swear they scraped the sides of that pan and gave it to me. When I called the corporate office about this, they didn't do crap. I had to step inside the restaurant in order to get complimentary food from the manager. I suggest you skip this location and go to the one close by on Atlantic Boulevard and 441.

As I sit in this restaurant that I was told by coworkers to try, I notice that I'm not alone. A young lad, in this case, a Roach has decided to join me at my table. Instead of using the chair, he decided to park his butt on the pepper shaker, possibly to get a better angle on the food I was eating. A quick Google search turned up that a nearby location had been shut down for roaches in the last year. Great. Needless to say, this was my first and last time eating here. And since the problem has been at multiple locations, I won't go back for a second try. This place is disgusting, fix your Roach problem. Where there is one Roach, there are usually hundreds infesting the walls and kitchen.

Favorite fast food joint in Fort Lauderdale. They have great healthy options and the meats are flavorful. Plenty of locations around the city. Wish this chain extended over to Texas.

On day one of a recent visit to Florida we stopped in a Pollo Tropical for lunch. It hit the spot: tasty chicken, a little bit of rice and beans, awesome wings and very good ribs. And the sauces were great, especially the curry sauce. The next day at lunch time we went to Pollo Tropical again, and the next day, and the next........... Solid simple tasty food, efficient service, reasonable. The only thing I craved was a nice crunchy side salad or vinegary cole slaw. Would I go back? Yesss and you should go too.

This pollo is near my work so I'm there give or take once a week. As a fast food/drive thru type establishment goes, this is far above the other, but I am a little partial because I'm not one to ever order a drive thru burger. I love the chipotle chicken sandwich and the fried yuca (with cilantro garlic of course). If I'm being "healthy" I get the caesar salad on the side instead of the yuca. Originally I had some issues with this location getting my order wrong...very frustrating when you're at the drive through and have to go back in or just don't even realize until you're gone. However, within the last 6 months or so they a new girl appeared at drive through who really has it together...my receipt says her name is Melissa and she seems to work the lunch shift. She is always checking to make sure the orders are right before she hands them off, and always gives lots of extra sauce when I ask...so she is by far my favorite pollo employee...today she was super cheerful and even sang a little hump day song!

Absolutely not impressed! I was so hoping for the quality of chick which I got at the south Miami location. Nope I got a dried out half of a chicken. Worse of all is the amount of time I had to wait. They need a process to help move the customers out quicker.

Fast, cheap, and healthy. Great for nights off cooking!! Rotisserie chicken, brown rice and beans, yellow rice with carrots and peas, balsamic tomatoes, caesar salad= very happy family

This place is not very good and very disorganized for a restaurant with pre-cooked food. The server allowed some customer \ dirty looking guy to come up and pick up my food with his bare hands he picked up the ribs and chicken. They then got mad because I said I wanted another plate made. They took the food to the back and brought the exact same plate back up it still had his finger print impression in the same place on the rib. I complained again and the cashier took the food and literally threw it at the trash can and made a mess. Of course, it took 20 minutes to get a fresh plate made. The restaurant is not very clean and frankly the food is not very good either. It is super close to home but I will be driving by to another place from now on.

I live down the street from this location and I've been here a few things and they have failed to provide any quality of service yet. they always give me the wrong order or fail to put something in the bag. The food is OK.

I love Pollo Tropical but the south federal highway location in Ft. Lauderdale is horrible. The store is always dirty and if you go through the drive through they seldom get it right. I drive several miles to go to another location to avoid this dump.

Horrible service. Order was complete wrong even after letting them know, they still got it wrong a second time and then forgot the drink as well. The food of course is always delicious if you can actually get what you ordered.

This place was a big part of my childhood. Today I am a hardcore vegetarian, but back in the day we frequented this place weekly. The yellow rice is always moist and flavorful, and the beans are authentically delicious. Everything has a hint of Caribe in flavor and I love it. POLLO TROPICAL - IS DELICIOUS

We only go to this Pollo when we have to. On more than one occasion they have been super slow. Once we went before going to an event, and it took 30 minutes for our order to be ready because a customer ahead of us was arguing with the manager about her order, causing the rest of the staff to stop everything they were doing to watch. If we hadn't already paid we would have just walked out. To follow up from my original review, I still feel this way about this Pollo Tropical. We finally moved to a different city and no longer have to go to this Pollo Tropical. We went a couple times before we moved since we'd packed our kitchen stuff up (my husband has celiac disease, so we're limited on where we can eat). Each time we went to this Pollo Tropical the person at the drive thru was incredibly difficult to communicate with, and once time they even switched to a different person mid-way through our order. We got things we didn't order, and didn't get things we did order. This Pollo really needs to get it's act together - rude, incompetent staff and a management that doesn't seem to care to change that fact. On a side note, we love Pollo Tropical and are happy that it is in the FAAN network - a big plus for my husband and I who are gluten free.

sure the food is good, its pretty hard to screw up grilled chicken but the incompetence behind the counter was painfully slow that my pollo loving self wont be back to this location and dare I say it, la granja is better anyway, in yo face PT!

This has got to be the worst Pollo that I have ever been to. Too bad it's the closest one to my apartment :'(. Sam and I like to go to Pollo whenever we are trying to cut out carbs. You can order a nice 1/4 chicken meal with two sides for only $5.29! I usually get double caesar salad for my two sides. The food here is good, just like any other Pollo, but it's the service that kills me. Sam has had the drive through window shut in his face several times, and I even had a cashier imply that I was trying to cop a free caesar salad. Story- I noticed that my bag only had one salad in it when I asked for two, so I went up to the counter to ask for the missing salad. She asked me at least 3 times if I was sure that they didn't already give me the salad. I told her I could show her all of the contents of my bag to prove I only had one salad. I honestly thought she would be like 'No, that's ok, here's your salad," but no! She actually had me go through my whole bag and each Styrofoam container to show her that I didn't have the second salad. A salad that's probably only worth a few cents to them anyway! And even when she finally handed me my missing salad she gave me the stank eye as if to imply 'I'm watching you.' Unfortunately, I'm sure you'll see me check in here again... I really wish there were a different Pollo Tropical closer to me...

The service is just terrible here. I like the food a lot. However, Pollo Tropical is set up like a fast food joint, with grills and food that takes actual time to cook. You could end up waiting for a half an hour for a half a chicken, when there is literally a pile of them sitting on the grill in the back. Update: The last time I came here the girl in the drive up window was extremely rude. She kept closing the window as I was trying to talk to her. She said that they didn't have any more cilantro garlic sauce, or pineapple rum sauce. YEAH RIGHT! She was just lazy. I left extremely mad and have not been back since.

If you're looking for a reasonably priced, no frills dinner, this is a pretty good spot. The area is bright and clean with plenty of tables. All food is served on disposable plates with plastic utensils. We stopped here on Christmas Eve to catch a quick lunch. Surprisingly, it wasn't terribly crowded, so we got our orders placed quickly. I opted for the trio dinner - chicken, ribs and pulled pork, to which I added sides of garlic yuca and yellow rice with vegetables. The platter was around $11. It took a while for it to come out. While we waited, we visited the salsa bar. I chose the pineapple rum and the garlic cilantro. There was a lot of meat on this platter! The pork was tender, juicy and fat free. It was terrific in both sauces. I must add here, that I really don't like cilantro, but in this creamy sauce, garlic was the overwhelming flavor. The pineapple sauce was cold and sweet, the rum flavor was definitely there, but reminded me of a butter rum Lifesaver candy. The ribs were okay, but not my favorite. The chicken is always dependably good. As for the sides, the yucca was bland. There was little garlic flavor and no salt. The rice also didn't have much flavor. After eating as much as I could, I had plenty left over for a second meal. Overall, we'd certainly do it again, just for the quality of the meats. If you're in a hurry and looking for a moderately priced meal, this is a good place to go. Don't forget to tell them that Yelp sent you!

My favorite grilled chicken in South Florida. The meat is always moist and flavorful, the rice and black beans, muy perfecto!!!. I can only compare this place to El Pollo Loco in the Bay Area (California) because its just as good. The skewered steak is awesome too. I always get a full stomach from this place and left overs for days.

We went here for my Florida vacation last year and the service was quick and sweet.Ohhhh and those curly fries they make are the bomb.No complains and I know that ill be returning here when we go back to Florida for vacation so if you're wondering if you should go to this Pollo Tropical then tha answer is capital YES.What are you doing reading this review?Goooooooo!

OMG...the best fast food rotisserie chicken I have ever had. You want a cheap meal that will leave you so satisfied then you have to go to Pollo Tropical. I am actually happy that we do not have one in NY because I would be eating at this place all the time and be one Gorda Chica. They have a drive-thru, are open very late and take credit cards. You will love this place, love the chicken, love the beans and the rice....moist, fluffy and full of flavor. I heart Pollo Tropical...you make my mouth water and tummy full.

Bleh. Been here twice, both times we had unnecessarily long waits to be served by less than capable employees out of a dirty-looking kitchen. The food was overcooked, dried out, and generally bland. I felt bad that I had paid money for it. Then I had to go get something I could eat. My wife liked it even less.

This is definitely my favorite fast food joint. I'm glad that we now have them in CT. However, the first time that I tried one was in Florida. The food is good and the prices are right. It was a natural choice for us on this last trip to Florida when we needed to grab something on the go. As always, we were not disappointed.

5 Stars? Pollo Tropical? You're kidding right? Seriously, I'm in a good mood and I can barely give them 2 stars. That's only because "one time" when I went to Pollo Tropical, my chicken was NOT overcooked and dry to the point of being inedible. The sides are ok but, just ok. Really, the place wasn't bad when the chain was new but quality has taken a dive of late. Let's be honest here, it's been a while since Pollo has put anyone to "complete and utter shame".

We went here for lunch not long ago, it was a bit past their peak hour, but the lines were TREMENDOUS, and no one seemed to be in much of a hurry to clear them out, either. The food, delivered in a retro styrofoam container, was not as excellent as I'd expected, merely servicable, and the place was borderline dirty. The floor in the kitchen had lots of chicken bits, and there was lots of rice on the floor. The place could use a good cleaning, some paint and some customer service for a fourth star. The food? Not bad for a franchise, but they need to step up.

    (3)
  • Stefani D.

i CAN'T believe some reviewers have given this place - and their other outlets - 5 stars. It may have started out as being a bit different than other fast food outlets, but quickly deteriorated. chicken often raw at the bone, places are dirty, and staff are always gruff. I haven't been there is years and wouldn't recommend to anyone.

  • Andrew K.

When I get off the plane this is always the first place I want to go. The food here is top-notch for fast food. In fact, I believe it is the best fast food joint in the World. Yes - better than In N Out. The Combo Mambo is a steal, and the guava BBQ sauce delish. I even like the tres leches. They know what they are doing and put Boston Market to complete and utter shame.

The food is absolutely terrific and an excellent value. Two very large shortcomings, however. It's IMPOSSIBLE to self fill the tiny paper cups they provide with salsa without some of the salsa overspilling the cup over your fingers (no matter where they've recently been) and dropping back into the community container. How the health department doesn't shut them down over this is beyond me. Virtually every customer that self fills the little container over the large container has this problem. Can't they sell the salsa in pre filled cups for ten cents or something? And if there is only a single line and the customer ahead of you is ordering for a large take out order, be prepared to just stand there and "steam" for five minutes or more. They got to speed up their order system especially in Boca.

Wasn't too bad. A better healthy option then most other places for fast food. Very excellent toppings bar, with a lot of different flavored sauces. The Caribbean ribs were the best thing there. The yuca Came with a great garlic sauce.

The food at this restaurant is great. My husband and I tried it on our vacation. I wish this Restaurant chain would come to Massachusetts.

Went for the first time not expecting much... I got a big surprise when I took my first bite! Very very tasty and 3 of us ate for under 15 bucks AND we were full.

The food? Not bad for a franchise, but they need to step up.

i CAN'T believe some reviewers have given this place - and their other outlets - 5 stars. It may have started out as being a bit different than other fast food outlets, but quickly deteriorated. chicken often raw at the bone, places are dirty, and staff are always gruff. I haven't been there is years and wouldn't recommend to anyone.
